Rooms

“By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.” - Proverbs 24:3-4 NIV

“It takes wisdom to build a house, and understanding to set it on a firm foundation; It takes knowledge to furnish its rooms with fine furniture and beautiful draperies.” - Proverbs 24:3-4 MSG

A poem I wrote as I pondered my life as a house and invited God to take me on a tour.

(Inspired by Ezekiel 40 when he is taken on a tour of the new temple in a vision).

Show me the rooms of the house you want to build.

Take me on a tour.

There are many.

Many to share.

What is the foundation? What is underneath?

You.

Tears were sown. Your tears. My tears.

Joy is reaped. My joy. Your joy.

May my house be completed in Your timing, in Your way.

Clear out the mold of sin and disappointment. It festers when it sits too long.

May Your brightly shining sun clear it out and restore.

Your presence burns it away.

May the walls be colored by Your love.

May your joy be the sound of singing. May your Spirit be the sweet fragrance that permeates and delights.

When storms come, my house is not shaken.

When mockers mock, it stands firm.

When intruders threaten and lurk, I am not afraid.

For anything built on a foundation of Your love and goodness shall stand firm. You are the foundation. You are the builder. You are the color on the walls, the song, the fragrance.

You make it last.
